Body Liposuction

For many of us, improving the shape of our bodies is a priority.  What many of us don’t think about are the benefits liposuction can bring to our health and self-esteem.

Liposuction is an ideal body shaping procedure designed to remove unwanted fat deposits, allowing you to have a more aesthetically pleasing contour that is proportional with your natural body shape.

Am I suited for liposuction?|

Ideal candidates include patients who have successfully lost weight but still require more definition to the area where diet and exercise won’t shift the excess fat. Women who have just gone through childbirth and have accumulated fat around the stomach, thighs and hips. Or patients who have stored excess fat on their inner or outer thighs and ‘love handes’ along the waistline.

As liposuction is not a weight loss solution, it is important that you first achieve your goal weight to optimise the results; a direction that will also allow you to enjoy more aesthetically-pleasing contouring of the body.

During the procedure, local anesthesia will be administered to reduce the bleeding and trauma and some patients may experience minor pain or discomfort. A small and discreet incision is made and a thin tube called a cannula is inserted to loosen excess fat. The dislodged fat is then suctioned through a surgical vaccum attached to the cannula.

Following liposuction, you can expect significant swelling and bruising, with the majority of swelling improving within four weeks.

Important to Note |

If you suffer from blood clotting disorders,  cardiac and or respiratory problems, you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or you are a smoker, the procedure would not be suitable. It is also important that the elasticity in your skin is quite firm. As with any surgical procedure, liposuction may come with risks, which will be discussed during the consultation with Dr. Chang.

If you wish to remove any fat deposits before falling pregnant, you will enjoy better results than undergoing the procedure after childbirth.

DOWNTIME: Day surgery [subject to the procedure and required areas]. FOLLOW UP SESSIONS: Patients will require up to a week to recover and a compression garment or bandage will worn for up to three weeks. It is also recommended that you undergo BBL therapy to help stimulate collagen production and tighten the elasticity in the treated area.
